"It is with great sorrow that I report the death of Johnnie Liliedahl, extraordinary woman, mother, wife, busineswoman, artist and teacher, on Oct. 24, 2009 from metastatic uterine cancer.
While the business of teaching art and producing art instruction videos will continue in the hands of those capable of doing the job in a manner that would be satisfactory to Johnnie, those of us left behind can only mourn her passing and be grateful for having known her and been so enriched by her passion for painting and teaching art while she goes about the business of painting the beauty of heaven!
The following information remains in place out of respect for Johnnie's many years of hard work and efforts to pass on her great accumulation of knowledge to anyone wanting to learn how to paint and to enrich their lives in the process." - Ralph Liliedahl
An oil painter greatly influenced by the 18th and 19th century Realists, Johnnie Liliedahl brings an old world,
multi-layered look to her paintings. Her style is a unique blend of traditional, academic studio techniques with modern
plein-air color and paint application. She has published three books on landscape paintings, a 16-part Home Study Art Course,
30+ art instruction videos, 100+ individual Art Lesson painting projects and a conducts a curriculum of workshops in her "
School of Classical Oil Painting " every year in her own studio. Her most recent publication is a book
entitled “
Photo-Imaging for Painters, An Artist’s Guide to Photoshop”.
Johnnie is a full-time painter and enthusiastic teacher. She conducts an annual schedule of workshops for art groups
in the United States , Canada and Europe . She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tulsa and did post-graduate
work in art history, painting and drawing at Louisiana State University , but she credits much of her knowledge and skills to individual artists with whom she has studied in classes and seminars such as those she now teaches.
She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, and Oil Painters of America. Her paintings have been juried into several
recent Oil Painters of America regional and national shows.
