About Elisabeth Ferber. . .
a Liliedahl-Certified Oil Painting Instructor

I was born in Bellville, Illinois but have spent most of my adult life in Central Florida. Born of artistic parents and having spent much of my childhood in Europe, I was exposed to a very classical art background which in turn influenced my current style of painting.
Married with 2 sons, it wasn’t until 1998 that I decided to try painting and haven’t turned back once. Within 6 months, I took my first class with Johnnie Liliedahl and since then have taken a class from Johnnie anytime she is in the area.
When Johnnie first started the atelier school of classical oil painting, I signed up in 2-week increments, for the sole purpose of improving my own skills and to achieve an overall better education in the concepts of oil painting. As I became a better artist, fellow students began asking me to teach and for help with their paintings. Thus, I decided to complete the full program and become a Liliedahl Certified Instructor.
Understanding that oil painting is a constant learning process, I continue to study with other artists and continue my education through workshops from Johnnie Liliedahl, Scott Christensen, Greg Kreutz, Crealde School of Art and life study. As I teach and pass on what I have learned, I will also continue to take workshops and learn from watching other artists and painting from life. One never truly stops learning and progressing as an artist.
In addition to teaching, I participate in “Plein Air” events and exhibits. I paint locally and across the state with a group of artists who paint landscapes from life. Every chance I get, will find me seeking out remote places to paint and observe wildlife in their natural habitat. We travel the state painting en “Plein Air”, participating in “Paint-Outs”, selling our works and donating part of the proceeds to benefit groups dedicated to preserving the natural land around us. Our goal is to show the public the beauty there is in a field of grass, a forest or even the blue heron flying over the lake and have them truly appreciate and want to preserve it for the future.
I take commissions and do demos. If you are interested in either of these or in attending a class, please contact me at one of the numbers listed above.
I am a member of OPA - Oil Painters of America, PAF - Plein Air Florida and AAONF - Artists Alliance of North Florida.
