About Nina Crookham. . .
a Liliedahl-Certified Oil Painting Instructor

Nina is an Australian living in the US and is a professionally trained instructor and teacher as a result of her long career as an officer in the Royal Australian Air Force. She has been painting for over 18 years both in oils and acrylics, however, oils are her preferred medium and her preferred subjects are people, places and children. Nina owned and operated a teaching Studio and Gallery in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney Australia.

Nina has lived in the US for nearly 5 years and has a son and daughter and a gorgeous granddaughter living in Sydney Australia.

Nina has studied with many professional artists in Australia and the US and has traveled extensively both in Australia and internationally to South East Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. She has also traveled to the United Kingdom and taught art classes in Ireland, Scotland and England.

Nina is a graduate of the Liliedahl School of Classical Oil Painting and is also a Liliedahl Certified Teacher. Initially, she completed a 9-week intensive study course with Johnnie Liliedahl including color theory, design and composition, Old Master painting, still life, landscapes and portraits from the live model. Also included were Flemish and Venetian Painting Methods including the Grisaille technique.

After a week of assessed teaching in January 2005 by Johnnie Liliedahl, Nina was certified as a Liliedahl Teacher.

While Nina's classes teach you how to develop a realistic painting, she focuses on craftsmanship and technique to teach her students how to achieve classical and realistic paintings in the styles of the Old Masters. She includes art history, technique, materials information, composition and design and color theory related to each project.

Nina prefers to paint and teach portraiture however, believes that to study and paint realistically ……..developing and painting still life, and landscapes are essential to developing a good all-round grounding and knowledge base in the fundamentals of Old Master painting techniques.

Nina prefers to travel teach, which gives her a great opportunity to explore the country and is available for chapter, group or studio organized seminars and workshops. However, she also teaches private study classes to students in her studio in Casper, WY.
