About Beverly Richmond. . .
a Liliedahl-Certified Oil Painting Instructor
In
1979 a neighbor invited Beverly Richmond to join her in a class
at a near by art studio. Until that time, Beverly's only artistic
endeavors had been crayons and coloring books (in which she always
colored in the lines) and stippled drawings of microorganisms
in a biology course required for her major in medical technology
at the University of North Texas.
The teacher at the art studio convinced Beverly she could teach
her to paint, and so began a journey into the fascinating world
of painting. With a husband and three small children at home, she
managed to find a little time here and there to pursue her growing
interest. It would not be until 1991 that she would be able to begin
the serious study of oil painting.
She is a graduate of the Liliedahl School of Art where she received
her instructor training and did her practice teaching. Her studies
under Johnnie Liliedahl included: color theory; design and composition;
still-life; landscape; introductory and intermediate portraits from
the live model; Old Master Flemish and Venetian Painting Methods.
She has also studied with Joshua Fallik, Pat Waymon, Dalhart Windberg
and Xiang Zhang. These studies have resulted in paintings that have
received a number of awards.
Beverly lives, paints, and teaches in Granbury, Texas where she
is a member of the Lake Granbury Art Association and Lake Granbury
Fine Art Council. She offers classes and workshops that are designed
to provide students at all levels a solid foundation in traditional
painting principles. These principles and methods may be applied
to any style of painting.
