Three Day Class
Friday-Saturday-Sunday
Portrait: “Ophelia”,
by
J. Liliedahl
Media: Oil
Skill Level: Beginner-Intermediate
Size: 20x24 Canvas
Learn fine art techniques to produce a work of art in a loose, impressionistic style. While the original painting was executed from a live model, the class will use original photographs of the model. A complete demonstration of the painting will be done for the class, as students recreate this painting as if working from life. A package of printed materials will give the student a complete guide to values, shapes and color placement to achieve a likeness. Attention will be paid to the techniques used to create the illusion of the silky fabric of the dress and the reflective surface of the table.
No previous portrait experience is necessary. Everyone can be successful with Johnnie's printed guides, support materials, and her hands-on teaching methods.

Subject: "The Letter" by Johnnie Liliedahl
Medium: Oils
Size: 20 x 24
Tuition: $395 (Includes canvas, paint, palette, solvent,
and mediums)
Class Limit: 36 students
This workshop is offered in conjunction with the national SDP painting
convention, but is not sponsored by the SDP organization. You must
enroll using the form provided by Liliedahl Fine Art Studio. We
will have a booth at the trade show, and you are invited to stay
beyond the workshop and attend this exciting painter's event, where
Johnnie will be teaching 2 other special event classes.
This painting will be fully demonstrated in the workshop by Johnnie,
while students paint along stage-by-stage. Learn the process and
technique Johnnie uses for painting from the live model. Although
there will be no live model in the class, the painting process will
be taught as if there were a model.
The direct technique of laying on paint will be emphasized, as well
as many ways of enhancing and detailing the painting after a model
has gone for the day. Finishing techniques will be demonstrated
and everyone should leave with knowledge of not only how to start
a painting, but also how to finish one.
No drawing experience necessary, as a cartoon will be provided,
along with other printed reference material. Gain invaluable technical
experience in this workshop. Johnnie will circulate among the students
for personal critique, and will be assisted by her Certified Teachers
to provide more instruction to those who may need a little more
help in class. The class will move at a lively pace, and students
should be familiar with oil painting tools and terms.
Presented in a large classroom, there will be large projected live
images on screen and televisions about the room, so all can see
equally. Closeup cameras will provide better viewing for the students
than the normal classroom setting.
The exact classroom will be assigned about 30 days prior to the
workshop, and you will be notified at that time where the class
will be held in the convention complex. You will also receive a
very short supply list with the classroom notification letter.
