"This pose instrigued me because it shows a young girl on the threshold of womanhood, clearly beyond childhood, but uncertain of the way forward. She reminded me of a "tween" at her first dress-up dance, neither wanting to participate, but not wanting to be left alone."

The expression on her face is both inviting and forbidding. Clearly, she doesn't want to be hurt or disappointed. One can only guess whether she ever had a partner for a dance. The original photograph had a dark background, but I wanted to paint this particular pose with a high-key background to lift the rather somber expression on her face into a new light." . . . J. Liliedahl

Johnnie will be assisted by her trained fine art instructors in the classroom. While she demonstrates the paintings and gives verbal instruction, the other will circulate for one-on-one instruction. This makes the workshop a good choice for the beginning student who wants to learn to paint in Johnnie's style for the first time.

This class will give the beginning portrait painter a good start on becoming a good portrait or figurative painter. Instructor will use High-Definition camera and projector so that every student can see the demonstration up-close and personal.

Enroll early as seating is limited.
